
String Concertino, Sundays 1:00pm-2:30pm
TMYO’s String Concertino Orchestra provides entry-level string orchestra training to student ages 6 and up who wish to gain confidence, experience, and ensemble skills with other musicians. Their season includes two performances and weekly rehearsals that focus on technique, ensemble performance skills, basic string repertoire, and music theory. Students in String Concertino will perform two concerts a year.

Symphonic Strings, Sundays 1:00pm-3:00pm
TMYO’s Symphonic Strings Orchestra provides string orchestra training to predominantly middle school-aged student musicians who read music and have at least three years of playing experience on their instruments. This orchestra provides an intermediate string orchestral experience featuring exclusive training opportunities with Florida Orchestra musicians in sectionals, weekly rehearsals that focus on technique, ensemble performance skills, and intermediate string repertoire. Students in Symphonic Strings will perform two concerts a year and are encouraged to participate in TMYO community outreach concerts scheduled throughout each season.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:
This intermediate string orchestra is for musicians ages 6 and up to hone ensemble skills and performance poise. Musicians who wish to audition for this ensemble must have played their instrument for at least three years, and can demonstrate strong sight-reading skills. Philharmonic Orchestra, Sundays 1:30pm-4:30pm
The Philharmonic Orchestra is TMYO’s intermediate full orchestra, designed for developing musicians ready to take their playing to the next level. The Philharmonic Orchestra offers exclusive training opportunities with Florida Orchestra musicians through dedicated sectionals, providing students with direct mentorship from seasoned professionals. Weekly rehearsals emphasize ensemble playing, intonation, complex rhythmic study, and quality tone production, building the foundational skills essential for advanced orchestral performance.
Admission is through audition, and the Philharmonic Orchestra serves as an excellent pathway for students working toward placement in TMYO’s Symphony Orchestra.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS:
Musicians who wish to audition for this orchestra must demonstrate mastery of the skills needed to perform the required excerpts and have strong sight-reading skills.

The Symphony Orchestra is TMYO’s premier advanced full orchestra. Featuring exclusive training opportunities with Florida Orchestra musicians through dedicated sectionals and side-by-side performances, students are immersed in a professional orchestral environment unlike any other. Weekly rehearsals challenge advanced players with demanding repertoire, emphasizing ensemble playing, intonation, and quality tone production. The Symphony Orchestra performs one to two masterworks per semester by major composers, alongside smaller works and collaborations with other ensembles.
Admission is through competitive audition, open to advanced players in 8th grade and above. With an average size of 70-80 students depending on repertoire, string, wind, brass, and percussion members also benefit from coaching sessions with professional mentors, deepening their orchestral and instrumental technique.
