Dear TMYO,
I hope this letter finds you in good health and that your summer break has been a blast. We’re so excited to get our new season underway. As the Board President of your Tampa Metropolitan Youth Orchestra, it gives me great pleasure to introduce our new Executive Director, Michelle Kim-Painter to our extraordinary community of talented young musicians and their families.
With an unwavering commitment to the arts and extensive experience in music education, Michelle joins us with a wealth of knowledge and a deep passion for nurturing the next generation of musical prodigies. We are thrilled to welcome her and are confident that her leadership will further elevate the excellence we have come to expect from our program.
Michelle comes to us with an impressive background in music education. She is an alumnus of the Tampa Bay Youth Orchestra program that eventually evolved into TMYO. She was also a Board member of TMYO until elected to this exciting new position. She is an accomplished professional violinist and pedagogue, having played and partnered with organizations and universities around the world. Currently, Michelle is the Education and Community Engagement Director of The Florida Orchestra. In this role, she has spearheaded numerous initiatives that expanded access to music education across Tampa Bay and fostered the continued growth of classical arts through community events with The Florida Orchestra.
In addition to her exceptional professional achievements, Michelle possesses a genuine understanding of the transformative power of music and the profound impact it can have on young lives. She is committed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment where each student can thrive, pushing the boundaries of their musical abilities while building lifelong friendships and enduring memories.
Michelle’s vision aligns seamlessly with the mission of TMYO, which is to provide unique musical education that inspires artistic growth, cultivates discipline, and instills a lifelong appreciation for music in our young musicians. Her expertise and dedication will undoubtedly propel our program to even greater heights, nurturing the talents of our students and fostering a vibrant musical community for Tampa Bay.
